Regulation agency for nursing homes in the Southeastern Region. They conduct yearly inspections, investigate complaints and have enforcement authority.

CITIZEN ADVOCATES FOR NURSING HOME REFORM

A grassroots organization that assists families in organizing Family Councils at nursing homes. Members receive monthly newsletters which contain information on pending legislation that affects nursing home residents and their families. The monthly meeting usually features a speaker who is knowledgeable about current nursing home issues.

The center will assist people who must assume the role of Guardian for a person who is not capable of making decisions on his own behalf. A health care provider, such as a nursing home, will not admit an incompetent person unless a Guardian has been appointed who is a legally authorized decision maker about proposed health care treatments.
