Who Licenses and Regulates Nursing homes ?
Wisconsin's nursing homes are licensed to operate by the Department of Health And Family Services, Bureau of Quality Assurance. The Bureau is also responsible for carrying out annual inspections of each licensed facility. These professional inspectors, usually a Registered Nurse, Social Worker and an Engineer, check for compliance with both State and Federal regulations and decide whether or not to renew that facility's license for one more year.
